Seedfolk
Every seed is a mystery.
Plant the unknown. Discover the extraordinary.
Seedfolk is a cozy isometric botany game about curiosity, collection, and the pull of one more mystery seed. Start with a sealed seed, choose a garden plot, discover what grows, and record each new species in your Field Journal.
Version: v0.1.0-alpha.0 Release status: In development Public label: Pre-alpha Playtest
Thanks for playtesting Seedfolk!
Seedfolk is still growing, and your feedback will help shape the next version of the game. This short survey should take about 5-8 minutes and asks about the Mystery Seed loop, Field Journal, harvesting, rewards, onboarding, bugs, and what made you want to keep playing.
Even a few honest notes are incredibly useful. If something felt cozy, confusing, rewarding, slow, broken, or delightful, I’d love to know.

Thank you for helping Seedfolk grow 🌱

The first minute
Pick a seed from your pouch, place it in a prepared plot, then watch the garden reveal what you grew. Each discovery feeds the journal and gives the next planting a little more purpose.

Choose a seed

Reveal a species

Log it in the journal
What you do
- Plant Mystery Seeds and discover which species they become.
- Inspect crops for growth, care needs, and harvest readiness.
- Record discoveries in the Field Journal / Species Folio.
- Complete Village Notes and Farmers Market requests with your harvest.
- Earn Garden Supplies and more discovery fuel for the next planting.

Plant the unknown
Mystery Seeds are sealed little questions. Pick one, choose a plot, and let the garden answer.

Discover what grows
Every reveal adds a new species to your journal and changes what the garden can ask of you next.

Keep a Field Journal
Your Field Journal tracks species, notes, harvests, and progress so each discovery feels like part of a growing collection.

Harvest with purpose
Harvests feed Village Notes, rewards, and the next round of planting. The goal is not a huge farm right away; it is a cozy loop of curiosity turning into discovery.
Pre-alpha playtest build
This build focuses on the first playable route. You can explore the opening discovery loop, meet the garden’s core UI, and see how Mystery Seeds, the Field Journal, Village Notes, harvests, and rewards connect.
Future plans
Seedfolk is being built outward from its core discovery loop: plant a Mystery Seed, reveal what grows, record it in the Field Journal, harvest it, help the village, and use the rewards to keep experimenting.
The current focus is polishing the first playable slice so the opening garden feels clear, cozy, and worth replaying. Future updates are planned to grow from that foundation rather than bury the game under chores.
- More Mystery Seed discoveries, including unusual crops, herbs, flowers, and rare botanical surprises.
- Richer Field Journal entries with specimen art, species notes, collection goals, and harvest history.
- Village Notes and request boards that give your harvests purpose and help guide what to plant next.
- Garden Supplies, Supply Shed rewards, and a small Garden Stall for turning safe surplus into more planting opportunities.
- More polish across onboarding, feedback, animation, audio, saving, accessibility, and long-term progression.
- Later releases exploring genetics, preservation tools, seed lineages, rare variants, crossbreeding, and mutation once the discovery loop is fully proven.
Player feedback from this pre-alpha playtest will help decide which features sprout first, especially around the reveal moment, the journal, rewards, and whether the loop makes you want to plant just one more seed.
This pre-alpha playtest build is intentionally small while the game is still growing. Its job is to test whether curiosity, reveal, record, harvest, and reward already feel satisfying together.
Playtest ask: after one loop, I’d love to know whether you understood what to do first, whether the reveal made you want another seed, and whether the journal/reward loop made sense.
Controls
- Mouse-driven play.
- Select tools or items from the UI.
- Click plots to plant, inspect, harvest, and continue the discovery loop.
Artwork note
Some page artwork uses AI-assisted marketing/concept art for atmosphere and presentation. Gameplay screenshots and playable footage show the current Seedfolk build.
